The Health and Happiness Nexus

I often refer clients to a book called “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Norman Vincent Peale and I have been able to restore happiness and reverse depression cases which conventional medicine failed to remedy. Most of these patients complained of side effects of medications and feeling worse-off with exaggerated mood swings which both contributed to their lack of compliance to the orthodox approach thereby keeping them in a permanent state of unhappiness.

Anie is an example of a Dr PhysiQ patient who after coming off depression, now goes around teaching happiness classes to communities thereby helping in healing those who were in a similar situation she once was. Happiness is very medicinal!

Studies confirms that another proven way to increase happiness is doing good for others, doing things you are good at and doing things that are good for you. Moreover, those who are the most optimistic are some of the happiest you will ever meet. You can try gifting, lending a helping hand and assess the increase in your happiness level.
Medicinally, happiness decreases your risk of cardiovascular disease, lowers your blood pressure, enables better sleep and allows you to maintain a normal body weight through regular exercise and also reduces stress. It is believed that having much money may not always make you happy. Nonetheless, happiness as medicine must be deliberate such that you can come to a conclusion that nothing on earth will make you sad.

Intersection of Health and Happiness

Forgiveness is another aspect we tend to forget when seeking happiness and great health. When you do not forgive, who is hurt the most? Is it you or the person who offended you? The truth is that when you refuse to forgive, your body pays in more ways that contribute to ill health much more than you can ever begin to imagine. The offender may not even be aware of the magnitude of damage he or she has caused.

Cancer studies show that unforgiveness is a major predictor of the prognosis and overall health factor when managing cancer.

Unforgiveness increases blood pressure, stroke, inflammation, and so on, leading to worsening ill health.

It is important to forgive for your own sake and that of your health. Do not forget that you can choose to be happy and it is your sole responsibility.

Finally, think happiness, live happiness and extend happiness to others because, if you want to remain healthy 24/1, then stay happy at all cost!
