Who is Dr Susana Adams?
She is a Nigerian-American. She attended the Middle Town High School, Middle Town, Connecticut, United States and graduated in 1998. Thereafter, she proceeded to the Long Island University, Brooklyn, New York, USA; graduating with the degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) in 2007. She also attended the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts, USA, for the Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine, 2010.
Dr Adams returned to Nigeria in 2012, and to be able to better serve in the health and wellness industry, she furthered her education by attending Benue State University – M.Sc. (Health Management); Ahmadu Bello University – MBA (Marketing); University of Washington, (Leadership in Health Management); MPH (Preventive and Promotional Medicine) and several other certificates in the field of wellness and lifestyle medicine.
Dr. Susana Adams pioneered integrative medicine practice and pushed the frontier of pharmacy as well as help the nation incorporate the benefits of pharmacognosy into core medical practice in Nigeria. Accordingly, in 2015, she founded Dr. PhysiQ Global Health and Wellness Centre, Abuja, Nigeria – the First Registered Integrative Medicine Centre in the FCT, Nigeria. She is also the Founder of the First Diabetes Specialist Centre in Nigeria and the First Registered Integrative-Green Hospital Pharmacy licensed by Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN). These centres have helped thousands of people to achieve optimal health and wellness.
Dr. Susana Adams has over 18 years’ cumulative experience in healthcare, pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, regulatory, community and hospital pharmacy practice. She is a Lifestyle Medicine Expert, Pioneer Integrative Medicine Practitioner, Wellness Consultant, Motivational Speaker and Author.
Dr. Susana Adams has worked variously as Director of Wellness Services at Brooklyn Chiropractic & Wellness Centre, New York, USA; Quality Control and Assurance Supervisor, Pfizer, Brooklyn, New York, USA. Dr. Adams, for love of country, returned home to Nigeria from the USA in 2012 through special recruitment and worked at the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Desk Head – Regulatory Intelligence.
Dr. PhysiQ Centre is globally recognized and is in collaboration with world renowned hospitals and wellness centers such as Medical Park – Antalya, Turkey; Emirates Specialist Hospital, Dubai; Mediquai Swiss Clinic AG Utoquai, Zurich, Switzerland and many others. She has sponsored outreach programmes, seminars, conferences, social media campaigns and features frequently on radio and television talk shows. She has also taken her unique message, knowledge and skills to over 106 communities, religious groups, corporate organizations and individuals reaching well over 11million persons worldwide. She has a standing health sensitization program on 6 radio stations in the FCT.
Dr. Adams currently provides services and consultations for for several organizations and agencies within and outside Nigeria, including The Presidency, Defence Head Quarters, Central Bank of Nigeria, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Mortgage Bank, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Federal Ministry of Health, FIRS, Rotary Club of Apo, International Community School, mosques and churches amongst others. She has served in several committees established by the Federal Ministry of Health and is currently the Focal Person of the Committee established by to integrate indigenous and natural medicine into core practice. She is also on the Ministry’s Committee to develop a curriculum for the proposed Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) Institute.
Dr. Susana Adams is the author of the highly acclaimed book on health improvement titled “Everything Heals” published in 2020. She has several awards from the Federal Ministry of Health, NAFDAC, Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria and international organizations amongst which is the African Women in Leadership “Award of Excellence” as the Phenomenal Woman of the Year 2021.
She has appeared in over 40 Health Talks/programme on Television and Radio in the last one year most notably the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), TV Continental (TVC) and Africa Independent Television (AIT). Her hobbies include skydiving, making people with health conditions well and putting smile on faces. Dr. Susana Adams is happily married and blessed with children.
